There are numerous benefits to be had when using
on your propellers and this page
will help you find out what they are and how they can benefit you, your company and
Eradicates barnacle attraction
During our research we have been amazed at the effects of
minimising the growth of barnacles. In many cases the barnacles
are completely eradicated and even in the most foul of waters
only a few barnacles are able to stay attached to propellers.
Stops / significantly reduces the effects of electrolysis
Propshield forms a barrier between the propeller surface and the water
so insulates the metal or painted surface. If you have suffered
from electrolysis (green deposits on bronze blades) then you
will notice that this either completely disappears or is
at the very least minimised in extreme cases.
Saves fuel due to cleaner propellers
You will save a significant amount of fuel if your props are
clean. Slow speeds, strained engines, damaged bearings, delayed shipments, missed
arrival dates, etc are just a few of the results of barnacle and
hard growth encrusted propellers. Propshield Industrial will
save many businesses up to 15% in fuel costs. Considering the
cost of fuel this represents fantastic savings compared to the
relatively low cost of the product itself.
Maintains speed of vessel
Using Propshield maintains the optimum speed of your vessel as
the hydrodynamics of the propeller blades are maintained. Any
fouling on your props means you will lose speed or use more fuel
maintaining the same speed.
Reduces prop repair costs
How can Propshield reduce your repair costs? Propshield
Industrial ensures props do not
oxidise and donít suffer from electrolysis
reducing the need for them to be re-fettled quite so often. In the
case of electrolysis it could mean the difference between
replacing the prop or not. If you prop is green (bronze only) at
the end of the season then the copper is leaching out of the
bronze and weakening the blade.
Propshield Industrial eliminates or at least significantly reduces
the effects of electrolysis so it stops your propellers
dissolving into the water when shore power is connected. If your
propellers are green at the end of the season this is a sure
sign that the copper is leaching out of the bronze through
galvanic action. This weakens the metal and blades can sometimes
break off and penetrate the hull. At best the blade will loose
efficiency and your fuel bills will increase as your vessel's
top speed falls. (Please note Propshield Industrial is not a
substitute for a good bonding system).
Propellers last years longer
As we have mentioned above the effects of the marine environment
are very harsh and your props are finely engineered pieces of
equipment which cost thousands of pounds/dollars. If they
are not maintained they will eventually fail in service.
Propshield will significantly extend the life of your props by
providing a barrier to that harsh environment.
Stops corrosion on outdrive legs (can be applied over paint)
On smaller vessels
Corrosion on outdrive legs can be devastating and can ruin
aluminium castings in a few months so an application of
Propshield Industrial will prevent this damage. This is
particularly useful for businesses running application services
for smaller leisure craft.
Will not dissolve in water, up to 18 month active lifespan
As this is a lanolin based product it will not dissolve in
water. It will gradually degenerate but it takes a considerable
amount of time before it becomes ineffective, in some instances
up to 18 months.
Penetrates metal up to a tenth of a millimetre
Propshield penetrates the surface of the metal so forming an
invisible barrier which remains active and deters barnacle
attraction and hard growth.
Propshield has been reformulated for the commercial sector and
is quickly applied to large surface areas in minutes. Click

applied to all types of stern gear
This product is specifically aimed at propeller application
however like the retail version
is suitable for all types of stern gear from props to P and A brackets
and from painted outdrive legs to rudders as well as shafts,
trim tabs etc.
with stainless steel, bronze, aluminium etc
This product can be used on any metal surface, it can even be
used on painted surfaces and even some composite surfaces
(please contact us
to find out what composite materials are compatible with
profits with Propshield;
Commercial vessels with fouled propellers waste money.
Fishing vessels lay idle for long periods due to new fishing
quotas so by applying Propshield to your props you prevent
the build up of encrustations which saves fuel and increases
your profits. Lifeboats, ships and other vessels which remain
afloat would also benefit from Propshield for the same reason.
Propshield Industrial Propeller Antifouling is lanolin based which is a
renewable resource. Propshield is not based on oil or any other
hydrocarbon like many other products are. Lanolin is a naturally
occurring substance which is a by product of wool production. It
is not harmful to the sheep before or during its production or
to humans during its application. (See best practice notes in
the instruction guidelines included with your purchase)
